Aside from Christmas cards, Valentines are some of my favorite pieces of mail to send and receive — and dressing up an envelope is one of my favorite things to do! Today, I’m sharing three tips I try to follow when styling an envelope — and three different envelopes all styled a little differently.
3 tips for styling an envelopeFebruary 4, 2016
1. The bigger, the better!
I try to take up as much space on the envelope as I can. This not only sets it apart from the typical bills and junk mail we’re used to receiving, but it helps the postman read the name and address a little more easily — because let’s face it, they can’t be too thrilled about the unusual styling of envelopes I tend to send through the mail. Oops!
2. Balance is key.
If I do something unusual on top, I try to somehow mirror the bottom line with the top in either size or length. In this example, I made a little “Please Deliver To” banner at the top, so I jazzed up the zip code a little to add some length to the bottom. I typically write the street address, city, and state in a block print, so the name and the zip code are where I have a chance to get creative!
3. Dress it up with some accessories.
When it comes to snail mail, washi tape is my accessory of choice! I typically use it to tape the back flap down, but don’t be afraid to add some to the front of your envelope, too!
So there you have it! Do you have any different ways you like to style your envelopes? I’d love to hear!
