A tribute to mom

April 28, 2016

Moms are such special people! They sacrifice so much for their little (and big) ones and expect nothing in return. They prioritize their kids first and often themselves last. They go without so their children can have. A mother’s love really is a special kind of love!

When I was a kid, I thought my mom was THE best. She was fun and creative, nurturing and affectionate, packed lunches every morning and cooked amazing dinners every night. She always helped with homework, maintained a clean and organized home… AND worked full-time. Now that I’m older, I honestly don’t know how she did it. And I don’t just think she was the best… I now know she was. (And still is!)

Among her many talents, my mom is an incredible artist. She paints, sculpts, draws, you name it! With Mother’s Day just a little over a week away, I thought it would be fun to collaborate with my mom on a printable Mother’s Day card to share with my sweet readers! I got the easy part of the gig, the lettering — and my mom painted the beautiful poppies!

To print the card, download the link at the bottom of this post and print (cardstock recommended). Once it’s printed, cut along the outside line and fold along the middle line. This card has a blank inside and will fit in a standard 5×7 envelope. A little snail mail is sure to make your mom’s day even sweeter!

To all of the moms out there– please know you are loved, appreciated and celebrated, not just on Mother’s Day, but every day of the year.

Happy Mother’s Day!

8 gift ideas for the mom in your life

April 15, 2016

Even though I like to start my Christmas shopping in July, for whatever reason, the spring holidays tend to really sneak up on me! With Mother’s Day only three weeks away, I figured it was time to start browsing my favorite stores for some “momspiration.” Today, I’m sharing affordable gift ideas that are sure to put a smile on any mom’s face!

mothers day 2

1. stonehold pendant necklace via Madewell, $45
This necklace is equal parts trendy and practical — and can be worn layered or on its own. I love it!

2. scallop seaside sandals via J.Crew Factory, $35.50
I wouldn’t mind snagging a pair of these for myself! I’m not usually one for white sandals, but these are too cute. They practically beg to be taken to the beach!

3. clarity pouch via truffle, $32
I’ve had my eye on one of these ever since Lisa at More Mimosas Please shared a picture of hers! This TSA-approved pouch is perfect for the on-the-go mom — and so much more glamorous than the sandwich bag I use for carry-on liquids!

4. volcano candle in white via capri blue, $31
Ever since I can remember, we’ve had one of these candles in our home — and at least one stashed away for back up! I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t love the fragrance, and the white jar feels extra spring-like!

5. gold hand lotion via Niven Morgan, $20
I was first introduced to this hand lotion from a friend of mine at a “favorite things” holiday party last year, and it’s been on my wish list ever since. This luxurious hand lotion is just what every hard-working mom needs to feel a little bit pampered!

6. insulated dipped initial tumbler via Kate Spade, $18
I love all of the colors these tumblers come in, and the initial makes it feel extra personal!

7. great things notepad via Rifle, $8
I love throwing a notepad in with gifts, and Rifle might just be my all-time favorite. My mom is a list-maker, so this cute pad has her name written all over it!

8. wood-marble square platter via Crate & Barrel, $30
I love gifting serving pieces, because those are things you don’t always want to buy for yourself. This platter is one of my favorites and always makes an appearance whenever I’m entertaining!

So there you have it! Any other mom-inspired gift ideas I’m missing?! Do share!
